Treat it as a starting point
Every equation carries roughly ±10% error, and activity multipliers are cruder still. Eat at the estimate for two weeks, weigh yourself daily, and adjust based on the trend rather than the prediction.
When to use body fat percentage
If you know your body fat within a few points, the Katch-McArdle equation is more accurate, because it scales to lean mass instead of total weight, which matters at the extremes of body composition.
